  • Young UK furniture designer shares thoughts on his passion for craft--and sustainability

  • Tags:

Sebastian Cox is a young, independent furniture designer from Lincolnshire, UK who works with coppiced hazelwood and other hardwoods that grow in abundance around his home. In this video we get a look at his design and manufacturing process--from harvesting wood with an axe to crafting pieces in his studio--which is innately connected to his interest in sustainability. What really stands out in the clip for us is his candid disucssion about the responsibility that designers have to create objects that are not only beautiful, but also good for the environment. Really glad we stumbled upon this clip, we'll be keeping an eye on this guy.
