Planet Under Pressure

  • An arty animation from Moth Collective espouses an integrated approach to climate security

  • Tags:

London animation studio Moth Collective has unveiled a new short produced for the Global Canopy Programme, a tropical forest conservation group. "Planet Under Pressure," the second video created by Moth for GCP, takes a global look at the "nexus challenges" of food, energy, water and the environment. Not the sexiest of topics, but the animators manage to pull off a beauty of a piece, even if the script, narrated by WWF president Yolanda Kakabadse, is a tad wooden.

    Some background:

Larger and richer populations are increasing the pressure on natural resources, further exacerbated by the immediate problem of a changing climate, with serious impacts on water, energy, and food security. The close interdependencies between water, energy and food are multiplying these threats in diverse countries and regions demonstrating that climate security will be an issue for all. An integrated 'nexus approach' is helping decision-makers to manage shared resources and achieve truly sustainable development.
