Imagine you're walking down a busy city street wearing a fashionable, comfortable dress, with cars and buses belching exhaust all around you. All appears normal, except your dress itself contains particles that can break down the vehicle pollution swirling in the air. You are literally a walking air filter.

That's the vision behind Catalytic Clothing, a conceptual fashion project between artist/designer Helen Storey and chemist Tony Ryan.

"Catalytic Clothing is a radical project that brings together the worlds of fashion and chemistry with the potential to clean the air we breathe. Employing existing technology in a new way Catalytic Clothing seeks to explore how clothing and textiles can be used as a catalytic surface to purify air."

This film, shot by London director Adam Mufti, introduces the Catalytic Clothing concept to the public. Featuring supermodel Erin O’Connor donning the air-purifying dress to the sounds of Radiohead, the video invites us to imagine a future where our clothes play an active role in our environment.
