Anthony Howe's Otherworldly Kinetic Sculptures

  • A studio visit reveals more about Howe's hypnotic, wind-powered works

The Creators Project recently paid a visit to Anthony Howe's Washington state studio to learn more about how he makes his awe-inspiring kinetic sculptures. In the video, Howe, who started his art career as a painter, explains his decision to pursue a new medium: "I just was bored with everything being static in my visual world. I wanted to see stuff flow." And flow his stuff does, often in a way that resembles alien lifeforms.

Now, after decades of working on his craft, Howe reveals that he plans to create the largest kinetic wind sculpture in the world (30'W x 30'D x 25'H!) for next year's Burning Man Festival.
