Using the "one-for-one" charitable business model made famous by Tom's Shoes, Florida-based Bare Earth offers vital assistance to some of the people who need it most: war refugees in South Sudan. For each sale of the organic, chemical-free soap bars, the company delivers the same dollar-value proceeds overseas. That money is used to buy soap from local manufacturers and distribute it in refugee camps. The project offers a sustainable sanitation solution to people who are vulnerable to diseases like cholera and dysentery. As for the soaps, they are available in five African-inspired varities -- African Violet, Citrus Sahara, White Nile, Nuba Kahawa, and Land of Oats and Honey -- each of which is 90-95 percent organic. So it's a win on every level.
