Tim Simmons: Scotland

  • Posted by SHFT on January 28, 2011 in Art
  • Browsing through Tim Simmons' vast photography portfolio, you'd think you were looking at photo stills of the most amazing sci-fi film never made. The UK photographer has an uncanny ability to make regular old Earth look like a far-away planet from Isaac Asimov's imagination. For twenty years, Simmons has been using studio still life techniques to illuminate night landscapes and create some of the most awe-inspiring, mystical photos out there.

Simmons' practice is rooted in his concern for our planet. By revealing undiscovered worlds within banal landscapes, his goal is to take on environmental apathy, to challenge the viewer's assumptions about the constancy of nature.

Above are selections from Simmons' Scotland collection. Lots more at his site. Definitely worth checking.
