Steven Perriloux's Sun-Kissed California

  • Posted by SHFT on April 16, 2012 in Photography
  • Photographer Steven Perriloux leads a bicoastal existence, dividing his time between LA and NYC shooting fashion editorials for major magazines. But it's his album of personal photos that caught our eye. In the series, the friend and former assistant of Terry Richardson captures California subculture in all its casual, sun-drenched glory.

Perriloux discussed his attraction to underground culture with Topman Magazine: "[W]hat interests me about subcultures is the simple fact that they are a minority that doesn't live by the 'rules' of what is commercially acceptable regarding styles and meanings. Subcultures usually don't adhere to a societal standard and there's still a bit of the rebel in me that relates to that."
