Last year saw the successful launch of Click & Grow, the hands-free, idiot-proof indoor planting device, and now it's back in a second iteration. And this time the Palo Alto-based founders turned to the crowd to develop it. Specifically designed to grow herbs at home, Click & Grow 2.0 is dubbed the Smart Herb Garden, and comes equipped with seeds for basil, thyme and lemon balm.
Don't have a green thumb? No worries, the smart garden makes sure that the plants always have enough light and water. Just plug it in, and let the device handle the growing.
One improvement in the new version is a highly efficient built-in LED light that provides a more natural-looking light. It uses only 6 watts of energy, so running the Smart Herb Garden should only cost around $5 a year.
After only a few days on Kickstarter, the Smart Herb Garden met its $75,000 goal. But you can still get in on the action. Pledge $39 and get yours for 40 percent off the expected $79 retail price. Ship date is September 2013.
