SHFT Sampler 11-19-10

  • Posted by Neil Simonton on November 17, 2010 in All
  • Oh snap, SHFT is popping up again this week, this time with the cool nerds at Wired. The space opens today, at 692 Broadway in NoHo. The SHFT selection looks a lot like this.

The Philadelphia Eagles expect to save $60 million on energy costs by retrofitting their their stadium with wind turbines and solar panels. They should consider attaching turbines to Michael Vick's heels.

This Thanksgiving, do it the green way. Planet Green posted a helpful rundown of eco-friendly ways celebrate the harvest, like hitting up a local farmer for your turkey.

Terracycle is expanding its reach. The waste upcycling project is partnering with Walmart to open collection depots in store parking lots. The converted trailers will accept 28 different types of trash, to be reincarnated as tote bags, plant pots, backpacks, pencil cases, portable speakers and more.

A sign of the times: As its entry into this year's Design Excellence Program, Seattle's Lead Pencil Studio created an open-air billboard in northern Washington that "works to frame nothing more than a clear view of the changing atmospheric conditions beyond." Ruling.
