Sculpture by the Sea, Denmark

  • Posted by SHFT on June 7, 2013 in Art
  • Whether you're talking about food, fashion, music, or art, Denmark is a veritable hotbed of culture (not to mention one of the greenest countries in the world). The coastal town of Aarhus contributes to the vibrant cultural community by playing host to Sculpture by the Sea, a huge outdoor sculpture exhibition that runs through the month of June. First launched in 1997, the festival takes place in Australia and Scandinavia and brings together an extensive mix of work in local parks, beaches and forests.

From a giant message-in-a-bottle floating in the sea to intricate installations made of colored thread, the 2013 Aarhus edition covers a huge amount of creative ground. Have a look here to witness the impressive range of work.

    Works shown above:

    1. Vibeke Nørgaard Rønsbo: Remind

    2. Qian Sihua, Bubble no.5

    3. Elin & Keino, Integration – Interruption

    4. Ismar Cirkinagic, mm13

    5. Marcus Tatton: Prodigious
