Ah Uhuru, you clever scamps, you've done it again.
The Brooklyn furniture designers, who we featured in our SHOP section earlier this year, make functional yet whimsical designs from materials that have been "reclaimed, recycled, repurposed, reused or otherwise rejected from their original function."
We love that sort of thing, of course, so we're pretty excited about Coney Island Line, Uhuru's new range of furniture crafted from reclaimed portions of Coney Island's iconic boardwalk.
Launched just in time for New York Design Week (May 7-18), the Coney Island Line is made predominantly from Ipe wood installed on the boardwalk in the late 1940s. The line consists of six limited edition pieces, Uhuru will produce only ten of each design; once the wood is gone, it's gone.
