Monkstone's Superbly Sustainable Knitwear

  • Posted by SHFT on February 9, 2012 in Fashion
  • Wool-lovers worldwide are flocking to the beautifully realized creations of Monkstone Knitwear, a new brand out of West Wales. The company is the brainchild of designer Anna Felton and her boyfriend Richard Reed, who runs his family's farming concern, Trevayne Farm, in Monkstone.

Felton's designs are simple and natural, a reflection of the way Reed approaches sheep raising. Since taking over the management of the farm, Reed has developed sustainable methods of wool production based on principles of permaculture.

"Our design methods have been adapted to work with the wool in a way that is sustainable and natural," they write. "This enhances the biodiversity of the farm and we keep to low impact design methods as much as possible."

The entire operation is as local as it gets -- from farming through shearing, designing through knitting -- and every piece has a story to tell.

Oh, and did we mention that the knits, which include both men's and women's pieces as well as home furnishings, are distinctively textured and amazingly detailed? Because they are. Check it out, and get your bespoke order in today.
