Moby: Innocents

  • Posted by SHFT on February 21, 2014 in Photography
  • We all know Moby as the smooth-domed musician and electronic producer with an interest in environmental causes. But you may not know (we didn't) that he's also an avid photographer. After moving from New York to a landmark Hollywood Hills castle, Moby became fascinated by the hidden history of the place and was inspired to explore it on camera and in the recording studio. The results are gathered in his 2013 album Innocents, and in an accompanying exhibition of photos debuting at Project Gallery in Hollywood tonight.

The richly-colored, ominous photographs specifically depict "the world's first post-apocalytpic cult," and more generally explore the strange darkness of Los Angeles. Included among the Innocents images are the above selection of forbidding California landscapes, underwater shots and sci-fi visions. You can view all of the photos here

Innocents opens at Project Gallery on Friday, February 21, and is up through March 30, 2014.
