There is no greater freedom than being buck naked in the middle of nowhere. Ask Jim Mangan. The photographer and filmmaker is making a habit of capturing the naked-in-nature feeling on film. Last year's Winter's Children project featured the former pro snowboarder's friends shredding the Idaho backwoods on vintage snowboards, clad only in Native blankets. (You can cop the "Winter's Children" book from powerHouse.)
For Color'd, his latest project, Mangan followed his friends to another stretch of wilderness, where they promptly got naked and covered each other in body paint. The resulting photos, featured in this month's issue of VICE, are a polychromatic celebration of humans connecting with the natural world. We're just hoping that the paint was biodegradable.
