Photographer Jeff Luker explores themes of freedom, sexuality and youth in commissions that take him all over the country. Now based in NYC, where he moved to from Portland, OR a few years ago, Jeff frequently returns to the West to capture images in the great outdoors. Taking cues from pioneers in the medium like William Eggleston, Nan Goldin and Robert Frank, his style is relaxed and unforced, with natural light on center stage.
Whether shooting for himself or for big name clients like Levi's, Urban Outfitters or Nike, Jeff's intent is always the same: creating honest images that he wants to see. "My philosophy towards making photos has always been to make the photographs that I want to see in the world," he explains. "So that is what I have always done, at the end of the day regardless if other people like them at least I can be happy knowing I made the images that I wanted to see."
