Airy Feather Installations by Isa Barbier

  • Posted by SHFT on March 26, 2013 in Art
  • French artist Isa Barbier brings the practice of environmental art indoors with these suspended installations made with seagull feathers. Spotted on Colossal, the works feature huge quantities of feathers hung by filaments to create abstract geometric volumes. Because the filament is transparent, the feathers seem to defy gravity as they hang suspended in mid-air. Elegant and airy, the massive pieces span entire rooms and add weight to the flimsy materials when grouped together. Above are images of just a couple Barbier works, you can see lots more at Documents d’artistes.
